Tizen is the new operating system from Samsung

Samsung has confirmed the rumor on Thursday (03): Your new operating system called Tizen will be launched on their smartphones even in 2013.

Two years ago Samsung and Intel have agreed to jointly develop the Tizen, an open operating system for mobile devices, with the goal of merging the platform Bada, LiMo and MeeGo and gain market share dominated by Android and iOS.

Samsung doesn't intend to give up Windows Phone and Android platforms in their tablets and smartphones, but the new Tizen OS will be released this year with models not yet disclosed by the company.

The features and release date of the new operating system have not been detailed by the company but if the Tizen wants to compete with Android and iOS, the Samsung has to take care not to make the system a flop.
