Employee perks are becoming more common, especially as the job market becomes more remote. A cellphone is a necessity in everyday life, and while most of your employees likely have one, they may not have a plan that supports the multiple business calls, texts, or emails they make. Consider giving your employees a cell phone that’s specific to work for these X reasons.

1. Keeps Workflow Organized

Cell phones can be used to keep workflow organized in your company. One way companies have kept everyone on the same page is through FAQ bots that can relay information quickly without having to ask a manager or read through a manual. With the use of an active chat room or group chat, a manager can relay the same information to everyone and answer questions.

For example, an employee can ask a bot, “what are the core values of the company?” and have an immediate answer. Or, that same worker could ask about stats or analytics for a project. Doing this will help create an environment of trust and open communication in the workplace.

2. Stay Connected With Co-Workers

Most of us value recognition from our bosses, but getting praise from our co-workers can be as valuable as getting kudos from the higher-ups. Cheering for your teammates has plenty of benefits, including improved job satisfaction, increased customer satisfaction, boosting retention, and enhancing morale. With unlimited text packages, you encourage more interaction.

Having a direct method of communication that doesn’t breach your co-workers personal lives can do wonders for establishing better relationships which leads to strong collaboration. The constant conversation also keeps conflict low and improves problem-solving skills.

3. A Work Cell Phone Puts More Money in Both Pockets

Cell phone rates in North America are at all time highs, and some of your co-workers have to pay hundreds of dollars to have a bit of data, unlimited call and text. If you expect your employees to stay in touch via cell phone, they may be unwilling to due to the cost. Unless you want to wait for your employees to reach a computer or a spot with WiFi, you need to find a better option.

Switching to a company plan won’t cost you extra, and all cell phone carriers will give you a discount depending on the amount of numbers you’re paying for. Not only will your employees save money, but they’ll also be less apprehensive about communicating after hours.

4. Communicating After Hours

Salary employees are supposed to stay connected at all times in case of a work emergency. On the weekends, plenty of employees won’t pay attention to emails or text messages from their boss because it’s their free time. However, sometimes you need a quick answer to a question or need immediate attention given to a project that’s time-sensitive or client-specific.

A company cell phone gives you that direct communication to that employee, whether you need to converse through an app or a one-on-one phone conversation. You also won’t need to fumble through your contact list, as all numbers you pay for will be listed in the company directory.

5. Standardized Technology

While it’s true that most of your employees will have a cell phone, that isn’t a guarantee. It’s also possible that your workforce doesn’t have the same operating system (Android, IOS) or phone version. An employee won’t be able to download an application if they don’t have an up-to-date version of an iPhone or can’t use the widget at all because it isn’t available on Android.

Standardizing technology takes the guesswork out of this process and makes troubleshooting much easier. You won’t have to wrestle with incorrect compatibility between file formats or scanning problems as long as every person has the exact same phone model and version.
