2018 has been a great year for flagship smartphones and we have already seen so many releases which are changing the game. From the high-end specs of the Huawei P20 Pro to the innovation of the Oppo Find X, smartphones, as we know them, are evolving extremely quickly. ASUS are now introducing their new flagship phone, the ASUS ROG. The ASUS ROG is a little different than other smartphones on the market as its main focus is on mobile gaming. In an age where style and speed are everything, will a gaming phone be successful? Let’s dive right in and take a look.
Let's Talk Specs
ASUS have taken the leap and reintroduced gaming smartphones to the world. The ROG is designed to have the highest performance and fastest speeds of any other smartphone on the market.
The ASUS ROG is running the fastest speed-binned 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with a Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU for a smooth and lag-free gaming experience. It has an impressive 8GB of RAM, integrated cooling systems to prevent overheating, and a whopping 512 GB of storage, making it one of the most spec-ed out Android phones in the world.
There are a plethora of accessories to transform this smartphone into a gaming beast. There is a gamepad which gives you physical buttons and analog sticks for a classic console gaming experience, a clamshell case which gives the device dual-screens, and there are plenty of ports to plug into your computer and use the device with a keyboard and mouse.
Mobile Gaming and Online Casinos
Gaming has taken over the world in recent years and everything from FPS, RPG, MOBA and online casinos like Royal Vegas and Jackpot City have become hugely popular. With gaming getting more advanced, it makes sense that more devices like the ASUS ROG will be released to handle them.
Online casinos are also getting more advanced and high quality. It’s no longer just simply pressing a button and watching an animation, but many of their gaming systems are getting more and more involved to play. They're including the full range of games you'd usually associated with a land-based casino, like poker, blackjack and baccarat, as well as introducing live streaming in the form of live casino. With higher jackpots, mobile optimization and better promotions, online casinos are making big waves in the online gaming industry.
It’s not just high-end games that people enjoy playing, but the ASUS ROG could be set to revolutionize the way we play mobile games such as online casinos and other gaming apps.
Features like these don’t come cheap, and while the price for the ASUS ROG hasn't yet been announced, we can bet it’ll come with a hefty price tag. All we can do is wait to find out for sure, but with specs like this, we can estimate that it will come in at a similar price to the iPhone X of around $1000 or more.
In an age of bezel-less phones, this one has quite prominent bezels which could be utilized for a bigger screen, however, they aren’t too disruptive and the screen is big enough already for a great gaming experience.
Overall, the ASUS ROG is a very impressive device. It’s fully spec-ed out and has the capabilities to be the best handheld gaming device on the market. However, will people be swayed to play games on mobile, or is it consoles all the way now? Only time will tell just how successful this device will be.
