When the original iPhone launched in 2007, it's beefy specs and features blew users away. It featured a 3.5" display, 4-16 GB of storage, and a 2.0-megapixel camera.

Less than 15 years later, such specs would be laughable - even to your mother, someone who only uses her phone to text your aunt and browse Facebook.

However, mobile phones continue to evolve each year, and features that were once considered to be something out of science fiction movies quickly become the digital norm. So what do the upcoming phones of 2021 look like?

Keep reading for a breakdown of what you can expect to see in terms of mobile technology in 2021.

Huawei Mate X2

Folding phones are all the rage right now, and the Huawei Mate X2 is rumored to make good use of this new and trendy feature. Under the codename "Teton", the Mate X2 will move the display from the outside to the interior.

Although experts still don't know too much about the phone, more details should come about it sometime soon.

Samsung Galaxy S21

If you feel like the current Samsung Galaxy is too expensive, the Galaxy S21 should be cheaper. It will come with a 6.2" display, as well as an integrated camera in the corner of the backside of the phone.

Whether you believe them or not, rumors seem to be pointing to a release sometime in February.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2/3

Samsung has been working hard on its line of folding phones, and most people think that they'll release a new one in 2021.

As the new phone will line up with the Galaxy S update, it should come out sometime in June. It'll also feature a 120Hz display which will provide users with a better scrolling experience.

Apple iPhone 13

Part of the Apple business model means that most people's phones are always a year or two behind. If you just bought the iPhone 12, you should be set for a while, but the rumors surrounding the 13 look to be exciting.

Experts are predicting that the tech giant will put the phone's Touch ID system under the display. Aside from that, not much is known, but as the company in question is Apple, the iPhone 13 should at least look like the 12.

Xiaomi Flip Phone

Xiaomi has also jumped on the flip phone bandwagon, and experts think that they'll produce a similar phone based on Samsung flip phones. It also seems like they'll be sourcing components from Samsung.

Aside from taking up less space, foldable phones also do many other things as well. They have bigger screens, making it easier to watch videos or use a check stubs maker.

Mobile Technology Continues to Impress

If you're still using a phone from several years ago, it might be time to consider upgrading in 2021. As this guide explains, there are a lot of exciting rumors surrounding upcoming phones and the mobile technology that powers them.
