The first Sony compact device top-of-the-line finally came to the USA: Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. Available in European markets in January 2014 shortly after its announcement, this device is now available on the Sony USA online store.
This late delivery to the U.S. market coincides with the Sony launch strategy (somewhat strange) for Americans. Sony smartphones typically have arrived later than in other global markets.
The America is the second largest smartphone market, China's first. Because of this Sony has priority to the Chinese market and then make a better launch their products in the United States.
The same thing happened with the best Sony smartphone (Xperia Z2) which is not yet available here. Its predecessor Z1 and Z1s, was launched four months after the device be available to European merchants, taking advantage of the summer season completely.
The delay in the release of the Xperia Z1 Compact may have negative effects for sales. The expected launch of Xperia Z3 (rumored to arrive soon) becomes even less attractive purchase. If Sony continues at this pace may we will not have the Xperia Z3 in the USA.
In the Sony store the Xperia Z1 Compact sells for $549.
Until next time!
